Happy New Year, everyone! Wow, the last of 2024 passed by without me realizing I didn’t get back on here. Oops! However, it is a new year, so let’s get this party going!
Food allergy news
Starting with this post, I’m going to be sending out links to articles related to news regarding food allergies. I’m going to cover the articles from December 2024 in this post, and I’ll be posting about every other week with more updated articles. With that said, here goes!
Boozy nut allergies
If you have tree nut allergies, read this article before ordering that amaretto sour. It could save your life.

Allergy year in review
HCPLive keeps physicians up to date on clinical news and information. This link consists of several articles regarding allergies. There is a combination of food and environmental allergies, which is cool, because sometimes one type can affect the other (that’s a future post from yours truly). Included in this link are and article about the FDA approving omalizumab for treating some food allergies and another about new information regarding caring for infants with food allergies.

A note on bullying…and a call for kindness
Bullying sucks regardless of the type or the bully’s age. But one form that really hurts the most is being bullied for having food allergies. I have experienced this so much as both a child and an adult. People being upset with me because I can’t eat that fresh-baked loaf…or that sharp cheddar…or those baked beans makes being open about my issues difficult. I have been shamed in the past for something I cannot control…and definitely never asked for (because I really like sharp cheddar and really miss peanut butter). So all I’m asking for is this: practice grace and kindness when being around (and especially feeding) people with food allergies. A little kindness goes a long way.
A note on Substack
I mentioned starting a Substack in my last post, and I originally intended for it to be food allergy-related. And some of it will. And some of it will not.
I’m planning on making my Substack a general hodge podge of my thoughts, my writing, my journey with food allergies, and whatever else comes to my mind. It’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea, and that’s okay. If you want to follow me there, I welcome you. If not, that’s okay. The choice is yours.
Be safe. Eat safe. And savor life!
